We teamed up with Brighton-based data erasure and reuse specialist, Tech-Takeback recently to host a pop-up event enabling residents and businesses to donate unwanted electrical items for refurbishment and reuse.
The event was held at a church in Portslade and provided visitors with an opportunity to sustainably dispose of unwanted tech, as well as learn how certain devices are made; what materials they are made from; and the associated environmental issues.
Donated items will be professionally data erased and refurbished by Tech-Takeback’s team of experts. These items will then be made available for reuse by local charities, or sold through the Revaluit ‘pay-what-you-can’ shop in Brighton’s North Street.
David Greenfield, MD of Tech-Takeback, said ahead of the event:
“We’re excited to offer Portslade residents and local businesses the opportunity to donate their unwanted laptops, tablets, smartphones and PCs at this local pop-up event. We have been offering various services across Brighton & Hove since 2016, and we always appreciate the opportunity to work with organisations such as Breyer Group to reach new audiences.”
Mark Plant, Director of Breyer Roofing, also commented:
“At Breyer, we have always looked to support the communities in which we work, beyond the improvements we’re making to their homes or public buildings. It’s also important to us that we work sustainably; with the environment in mind. So, partnering with Tech-Takeback to offer residents in Portslade and the surrounding areas an opportunity to get their unwanted tech recycled is just the kind of initiative we love to support. So many of us have old laptops, mobile phones and other equipment taking up valuable space and Tech-Takeback provides a brilliant service for people to clear the clutter in an environmentally-conscientious way.”
