While delivering high quality property improvements is our main focus, investing further in the communities where we work is also a priority for us. This is why our team in Kingston, and our Kingston Council colleagues teamed up with the Kingston Churches Action on Homelessness (KCAH) to offer a washbag of essential items to 150 of the vulnerable people that they support.

Our Head of Partnerships, Dean Van Woerkom was joined by Breyer Social Value Manager, Jamie Clancy-Toomey, Kingston Council housing staff and Site Manager Bill Sanders at St Peter’s Church Hall earlier this week to hand out the washbags.

Dean comments:

“One of our key social value deliverables for this contract with Kingston Council is to help vulnerable people live independently. When we heard about KCAH, I was keen to meet with them to discuss how we could support their work, which is where the decision to purchase and distribute washbags came about. While this is a small gift in the grand scheme of things, it has clearly made a big impact in making these vulnerable people feel seen and cared for. We will continue to liaise with KCAH and other local charities to ensure Breyer’s presence in Kingston brings benefits to the community above and beyond high quality property improvements.”

Georgie Forshaw, Chief Executive of KCAH, added:

“The team at Breyer have been so generous to support KCAH this winter, by providing tailored hygiene packs for our Winter Night Shelter provision running for three months.  Not only does this support guests to have their own personal bag of items to store, refill and reuse, it has enabled the Charity to save costs and redistribute financial aid directly to our guests.  We are also working with the team to volunteer their time at the Night Shelter.  Thank you, Team Breyer, for supporting our under-served community and making a difference locally.”
